Illinois House of Representatives expresses condolences on the death of Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. of East St. Louis, who passed away on December 18, 2020

Jackson was born July 14, 1949, graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School in 1967, earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity

Served on East St. Louis City Council for more than 30 years starting in the early 1970s; worked as a science teacher and gifted administrator in School District 189 before serving 8 years in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2009 to 2017 representing the 114th District

Was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years and served as a mentor and advocate for improving East St. Louis throughout his life

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to Jackson's family in expression of sympathy
