Eddie Lee Jackson Sr. of East St. Louis passed away on December 18, 2020, prompting the Illinois House of Representatives to mourn his death.

Jackson was born July 14, 1949, in Canalou, Missouri, and earned a bachelor's degree in Education and a master's degree in City Planning from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Jackson served on the East St. Louis City Council for more than 30 years starting in the early 1970s, and served in the Illinois House of Representatives for 8 years from 2009 to 2017 representing the 114th District.

Jackson was a longtime educator, community leader, and member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc for more than 50 years, and attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

The House extends sincere condolences to Jackson's surviving wife Pearlie, his two children, grandchildren, and other family members, and directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to his family.
