Illinois House of Representatives congratulates Representative Mike Unes on his retirement after serving five terms representing the 91st District.

Representative Unes served as Assistant Minority Leader and worked across party lines to pass legislation benefiting Illinois residents despite serving entirely in the minority party.

Unes received a bachelor's degree from Bradley University in 1996 and previously served on the East Peoria City Council as accounts and finance overseer and mayor pro tem from 2007 onward.

Representative Unes received numerous accolades including East Peoria's Distinguished Citizen of the Year, Legislator of the Year from multiple organizations, and three Champion of Free Enterprise awards from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.

Upon leaving the General Assembly, Unes will serve as Vice President of the UnityPoint Health - Central Illinois Foundation; a suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to him.
