Requires textbooks purchased with state textbook block grant funds to be non-discriminatory as to characteristics under the Illinois Human Rights Act and include roles and contributions of all protected groups.

Mandates that textbooks authorized for purchase under the block grant program must include the roles and contributions of all people protected under the Illinois Human Rights Act.

Requires public schools to include in history instruction a study of the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of the United States and Illinois.

Applies to public schools only for the LGBT history requirement, while textbook non-discrimination requirements apply to both public schools and state-recognized non-public schools.

Effective July 1, 2020.
