Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois shall consist of the Governor and at least 12 trustees, including 9 appointed trustees and one student trustee selected from each University campus.

Only one student trustee shall have the right to cast a legally binding vote, designated by the Governor for the entire term, while other student trustees may cast advisory votes and make motions.

Student trustee eligibility requires Illinois residency with evidence of domicile for at least 6 months plus either a valid Illinois driver's license/identification card or valid Illinois voter registration.

Student trustees must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and remain full-time enrolled students during their one-year terms, which run from July 1 to June 30.

Residency determination for student trustees does not apply to tuition residency purposes, and Act takes effect January 1, 2020.
