IL SB0217

Removes the requirement that school board employees mobilized to active military duty have their salary decreased by their base military pay.

Applies to certificated and non-certificated employees who are members of U.S. Armed Services reserve components, including the Illinois National Guard.

Ensures employees continue receiving full school board compensation plus health insurance and other benefits during active military service without offset by military base pay.

Extends the same salary protection to teachers employed in Department of Defense overseas dependents' schools who are mobilized to active military duty.

Preserves all employment benefits, service credit, and employment status for duty commencing on or after September 1, 2001; allows more generous collective bargaining agreements or school board policies to control over these provisions.
