County boards may establish toll rate schedules for toll bridges and adjust rates from time to time, including setting maximum toll rates subject to periodic adjustment.

County boards may enter into agreements establishing toll rate schedules for periods up to 99 years, with this Act declared to be retroactive.

Electronic toll collection systems on toll bridges must be compatible with the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority system, and counties may contract with the Authority for services.

Public Act 101-398 does not authorize counties, municipalities, or private operators to impose tolls on public roads, streets, or highways outside of toll bridges.

Toll bridges in Winnebago County that were operating and collecting tolls as of the 97th General Assembly are exempt from electronic toll collection compatibility requirements.
