SB1126 Summary

• Removes requirement for county clerks to furnish updated computer tapes or discs containing voter registration information.

• Allows Boards of Election Commissioners to appoint 3 judges of election instead of 5 for primary elections, emergency referendums, odd-year elections, and special elections for U.S. Congressional vacancies.

• Changes Article 24C title and terminology from "Direct Recording Electronic Voting Systems" to "Direct Recording Electronic Tabulators and Electronic Ballot Marking Devices" throughout the Election Code.

• Increases State Board of Elections' notice period for automatic tabulating equipment tests from 30 days to 60 days before elections, and extends jurisdictions' response time for submitting specimen ballots from 5 days to 15 days.

• Changes references to "public measures" to "public questions" throughout the Election Code.
