IL SB1291

Amends the Ambulatory Surgical Treatment Center Act to allow dentists to obtain privileges at ambulatory surgical treatment centers when patients require sedation beyond the dentist's training level.

Requires the medical director of the facility to determine if a patient needs sedation beyond the dentist's qualifications before privileges are granted.

Mandates that dentists performing sedation-requiring procedures either hold admitting privileges at a nearby hospital or have a memorandum of understanding with a physician who has such privileges for emergency care.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
