IL SB1354

Amends the Public Employee Disability Act to expand the definition of "eligible employee" to include part-time law enforcement officers and part-time firefighters, in addition to full-time officers and firefighters previously covered.

Extends disability benefits to part-time employees who suffer job-related injuries, allowing them to continue receiving pay without deductions from sick leave, compensatory time, or vacation during disability periods.

Requires that compensation and benefits for part-time employees be calculated based on the percentage of time the part-time employee was scheduled to work.

Maintains existing protections for employees of the Department of Corrections, Prisoner Review Board, and Department of Human Services, limiting benefits to injuries caused by inmate or resident violence.

Does not apply to home rule units with a population over 1,000,000.
