Permits currently employed and retired State correctional officers to carry concealed firearms off-duty without violating unlawful weapons statutes if they complete training by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board and annually requalify at a certified State range.

Requires State correctional officers to purchase their own firearms at personal expense, register them with the Department of State Police and local agencies, and prohibits carrying state-issued firearms while off-duty.

Permits currently employed and retired county correctional officers to carry concealed firearms off-duty under identical training, registration, and requalification requirements as State correctional officers, with registration through their county sheriff.

Removes law enforcement status and permanently revokes firearms rights for any correctional officer (State or county) who is discharged from employment.

Amends the Criminal Code, Unified Code of Corrections, and County Jail Act to add exemptions from unlawful use of weapons and aggravated unlawful use of weapons statutes for qualifying correctional officers.
