IL SB1433

Prohibits courts from instructing juries about the consequences of fault findings by plaintiffs or defendants in negligence and product liability cases.

Removes the requirement that courts instruct juries that defendants are not liable if plaintiff's contributory fault exceeds 50% of the proximate cause of injury or damage.

Changes joint and several liability thresholds to be based on "proximate cause" rather than "total fault attributable to" all parties involved in the case.

Defendants with fault less than 25% of the proximate cause are severally liable for non-medical damages; defendants with fault of 25% or greater are jointly and severally liable for non-medical damages.

Changes apply only to causes of action accruing on or after the effective date of this amendatory act.
