Requires every count in complaints and counterclaims to request specific remedies from the court, except in personal injury actions where damage amounts cannot be claimed unless necessary for circuit court case assignment rules.

Allows parties to request remedies in the alternative and permits objections to remedies not supported by complaint allegations through motion or answering pleading.

Permits courts to award remedies beyond those requested in pleadings, except in default cases, and requires the court to protect defendants against prejudice from surprise with appropriate orders.

Mandates notice to defaulted parties under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 105 if a remedy sought exceeds what the defaulted party requested.

Allows defendants to request damage amounts from plaintiffs through interrogatory discovery.
