IL SB1622

Prohibits any voting machine used, adopted, or purchased by Illinois election authorities from being made, manufactured, or assembled outside the United States, including all hardware and software components.

Requires the State Board of Elections to reject approval of any voting equipment or system that is foreign-made or contains foreign-manufactured parts, applying to precinct tabulation optical scan systems and direct recording electronic voting systems.

Creates new Section 24-2.1 of the Election Code establishing the foreign voting machine prohibition as a standalone requirement.

Applies the foreign manufacturing prohibition requirement to existing voting system approval standards in Sections 24A-16, 24B-16, and 24C-16 governing different types of voting technology.
