IL SB1625

Amends Section 115-7.3 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to include attempted offenses in the list of crimes for which evidence rules apply, including attempted predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, attempted aggravated criminal sexual assault, and attempted criminal sexual assault.

Expands evidentiary rules to cover attempted battery, attempted aggravated battery, attempted first degree murder, and attempted second degree murder when involving sexual penetration or sexual conduct.

Includes attempted offenses formerly known as rape, deviate sexual assault, indecent liberties with a child, and aggravated indecent liberties with a child under the same evidentiary framework.

Allows evidence of a defendant's commission of other similar offenses listed in the statute to be admissible in cases involving these crimes or attempted crimes, with courts weighing probative value against prejudice considering timing, factual similarity, and other relevant circumstances.

Requires prosecutors to disclose evidence of other offenses in advance of trial at a reasonable time, or during trial if the court excuses pretrial notice for good cause.
