On or after July 1, 2019, all FDA-approved prescription medications recognized as effective for conditions in the most recent Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders must be covered under Illinois medical assistance programs (both fee-for-service and managed care).

Covered mental health medications cannot be subject to utilization controls, prior authorization mandates, or lifetime restriction limits for otherwise eligible medical assistance recipients.

Amends Section 5-5 of the Illinois Public Aid Code regarding medical services covered under the medical assistance program.
