Licensed school personnel and administrators working with K-12 pupils must receive training at least once every 2 years to identify warning signs of mental illness and suicidal behavior in youth and learn intervention and referral techniques.

School districts may utilize the Illinois Mental Health First Aid training program administered by certified instructors to satisfy the mental health training requirements, and personnel may present certificates of completion from outside training to meet these requirements.

School personnel must receive in-service training at least once every 2 years on domestic and sexual violence, including how to communicate with victims and connect them to appropriate services and support.

School personnel must receive training at least once every 2 years on anaphylactic reactions and management conducted by persons with expertise in the subject.

School boards must conduct in-service training at least once every 2 years on educator ethics, teacher-student conduct, and school employee-student conduct for all personnel.
