IL SB1748

Requires school board approval at a public hearing before hiring an applicant who is a relative of an existing employee with supervisory authority over the applicant position.

Defines "relative" as a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling, cousin, or spouse of any of those persons.

Prohibits school board members who are relatives of job applicants from participating in any employment decisions regarding those applicants, including hiring, salary, promotion, tenure, evaluations, and awards.

Applies only to applicants hired on or after the effective date of this amendatory act of the 101st General Assembly.

Effective immediately upon becoming law.
