IL SB1801

Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act by adding Section 7.7 to require the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority to analyze criminal justice data on firearm-related crimes.

Analysis must track firearm crimes committed by convicted felons over the 5-year period prior to the bill's effective date, including sentences imposed.

Authority must report to the General Assembly by January 1, 2021 with two specific data points: (1) how many people arrested for firearm crimes were convicted felons, and (2) the disposition of those cases.

Section 7.7 is repealed July 1, 2021, making this a temporary reporting requirement.
