IL SB1841

Adds a January 1, 2020 sunset date for the exemption of Asian bodywork practitioners from massage licensing requirements, after which practitioners must comply with state massage licensing laws.

Maintains existing exemptions for licensed professionals (physicians, physical therapists, nurses, cosmetologists, estheticians) and certain bodywork approaches (reflexology, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, Reiki, Rolfing, Trager Approach) from massage licensing requirements.

Preserves exemptions for massage therapy students at approved schools provided they do not hold themselves out as licensed and do not receive compensation, including tips.

Allows out-of-state and internationally licensed or certified massage therapists to practice for up to 30 days per calendar year or to provide services exclusively to their team or organization during athletic events.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
