SB1879 Summary

• Exempts persons holding valid Federal Firearms Licenses from state firearm dealer licensing requirements during state-approved activities at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex.

• Allows non-resident registered competitors and attendees at World Shooting and Recreational Complex events sanctioned by national governing bodies to purchase rifles, shotguns, and ammunition at the event site without additional state licensing.

• Requires the Department of Natural Resources to notify the Department of State Police at least 30 days before sanctioned competitive shooting events and provide lists of registered competitors and attendees; State Police must destroy lists within 30 days of events.

• Makes technical amendments to the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act and Criminal Code of 2012 to clarify definitions and procedures related to firearm transfers at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex.

• Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
