IL SB2014

Amends the Higher Education Student Assistance Act by modifying Section 20 to add citizenship and immigration status protections to the Illinois Student Assistance Commission's operations.

Requires the Commission to exercise its functions without regard to an applicant's citizenship or immigration status, unless otherwise provided by statute.

Adds "citizenship or immigration status" to the existing list of protected characteristics that cannot be used in eligibility determinations (alongside race, creed, sex, color, national origin, and ancestry).

Maintains all other existing Commission functions including eligibility determinations, awarding financial assistance, administering grant programs, and detecting fraud.
