SB2482 Summary

• Increases the minimum hourly rate for public or community service used to satisfy criminal and traffic assessments from $4 per hour to $10 per hour.

• Removes the requirement that public or community service be a condition of probation, conditional discharge, or supervision in addition to other court-ordered service.

• Allows courts to adjust the hourly rate for assessments imposed between July 1, 2019 and the effective date of this amendment.

• Removes the exclusion of Illinois Vehicle Code violation assessments from the definition of "assessments" in the assessment waiver provision under the Code of Criminal Procedure.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
