SB2493 Summary

• Effective July 1, 2020, targeted dental services provided to adults and children under the Medical Assistance Program shall be paid at rates established under the State of Illinois Dental Benefit Schedule.

• Establishes specific covered dental procedure codes including diagnostic, preventive, restorative, and corrective procedures for prevention and treatment of periodontal and dental caries disease.

• Sets reimbursement rates for anesthesia services: nitrous oxide ($70), non-intravenous conscious sedation ($150), intravenous moderate sedation ($181 per 15-minute increment), and deep sedation ($214 per 15-minute increment).

• Allows volunteer dentists to provide services at enrolled not-for-profit health clinics without personally enrolling as program providers, subject to federal approval and department rules.

• Bill becomes effective immediately upon passage.
