Requires coroners to disqualify themselves from investigations or inquests when they have conflicts of interest, including being a party to the case, having kinship to parties, or having economic or personal interests conflicting with their official duties.

Allows interested parties to petition the circuit court to disqualify a coroner for cause if the coroner fails to self-disqualify, requiring the petition to be verified by affidavit and a hearing to be conducted as soon as possible.

Permits the circuit court to temporarily appoint a coroner from another jurisdiction with a mutual aid agreement to perform the duties, with the appointment to be made within 24 hours of the motion being filed.

Specifies that a temporarily appointed coroner has the same power and authority as the original coroner and all investigation expenses are paid by the county where the death occurred.

Terminates the temporary appointment upon completion of the final certification of death.
