IL SB2525

Deletes language requiring jurors to be "free from all legal exception, of fair character, of approved integrity, of sound judgment, and well informed" from the Jury Act qualifications.

Replaces deleted language with requirement that jurors must be "able" to understand English language in spoken, written, or sign language form.

Prohibits exclusion of qualified jurors from jury service based on previous criminal conviction, along with existing prohibitions on exclusion based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, or economic status.

Retains core jury qualifications: county inhabitant, age 18 or older, able to understand English, and United States citizen.
