Defines "servicemember" as a person currently serving in the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, or Coast Guard on active duty, reserve status, or in the National Guard.

Defines "veteran" as a former servicemember discharged or released from service under conditions other than dishonorable.

Makes aggravated assault against a servicemember or veteran a Class A misdemeanor when committed without legal justification.

Makes aggravated battery against a servicemember or veteran a Class 3 felony when committed by a person at least 18 years of age without legal justification.

Adds servicemembers and veterans to the list of protected individuals under Illinois aggravated assault and battery statutes, similar to existing protections for teachers, peace officers, and other public servants.
