IL SB2563

Creates the Fire and Smoke Damper Inspection Act requiring commercial structures with fire and smoke dampers to have them inspected and tested within one year of installation, then at least once every 4 years thereafter.

Requires hospitals with fire and smoke dampers to have them inspected and tested at least once every 6 years.

Mandates inspections be conducted by individuals certified by the International Certification Board and American National Standards Institute, certifying compliance with Section 717 of the 2012 International Building Code.

Establishes detailed inspection requirements including verification of unobstructed access, damper actuation and cycling, fusible link testing and replacement if damaged, and documentation of location, date, inspector name, and any deficiencies discovered.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
