IL SB2565

Increases the maximum speed limit on interstate highways outside urban areas from 70 miles per hour to 75 miles per hour in Illinois.

Applies to all interstate highways as defined by Section 1-133.1, including highways under the jurisdiction of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority.

Maintains existing speed limits on other road types: 30 mph in urban districts, 65 mph on designated 4-lane highways outside urban areas, and 55 mph on other roads.

Allows Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Madison, McHenry, St. Clair, and Will counties to adopt ordinances setting lower speed limits than the state maximums.
