IL SB2747

Amends the Illinois Pension Code to allow courts discretion to award reasonable attorney's fees and costs to either party in actions by participants or beneficiaries involving payment of pension benefits under the Code or Article XIII, Section 5 of the Illinois Constitution.

Applies to civil actions brought by participants or beneficiaries where the central issue is the payment of benefits due to them.

Adds Section 8.44 to the State Mandates Act to exempt this bill from state reimbursement requirements to local governments and school districts.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
