Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code Section 4-0.5 regarding the termination of the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program effective June 30, 1997.

Makes a technical grammatical correction by removing a duplicate instance of the word "The" at the beginning of a sentence describing the AFDC program termination.

Maintains language requiring the Illinois Department to develop an alternative program under the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to promote self-sufficiency and employment.

Preserves provisions for transitional assistance including emergency payments, job training support, and child support enforcement to help families achieve employment and self-sufficiency.
