IL SB2911

Amends the Illinois State Auditing Act to require federal tax information disclosed to the Office of the Auditor General to comply with federal law and regulations for safeguarding such information.

Removes prior restrictions limiting confidential income tax records access to only designated payroll employees of the Auditor General's office.

Extends confidentiality requirements and penalties for violations to contractors and agents of the Office of the Auditor General, in addition to officers and employees.

Amends the Illinois Income Tax Act to establish that furnishing tax returns and related information to the Auditor General or authorized agents for official audit purposes constitutes an official purpose within the Department of Revenue.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
