IL SB2979

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to establish sales restrictions for imitation handguns including air guns, air pistols, B-B guns, paint ball guns, and pellet guns that resemble handguns.

Requires all imitation handguns to be sold from behind the counter, in an age-restricted area, or in a sealed display case.

Makes violation of the display requirements a Class B misdemeanor, distinguishing it from other air rifle violations which are petty offenses.

Defines "imitation handgun" as any implement not a firearm that is designed to resemble and has the appearance of a handgun, regardless of whether it can fire projectiles.
