SB3097 Summary

• Extends the deadline for filing duty death benefit claims to December 31, 2021 for deaths that occurred between December 31, 2016 and January 1, 2021, notwithstanding other deadlines in the Line of Duty Compensation Act.

• Applies this extended deadline to law enforcement officers, civil defense workers, civil air patrol members, paramedics, firemen, chaplains, State employees, and Armed Forces members killed in the line of duty.

• Preserves existing deadlines for other claims: one year for non-Armed Forces personnel and two years for Armed Forces members (one year if death occurred before October 18, 2004).
