SB3109 - Lead in Schools Reporting Act

• Department of Public Health shall conduct annual lead testing at all public school facilities for presence of lead in paint, dust, soil, and water, in coordination with local departments of public health.

• Department shall employ licensed lead inspectors trained through Department-approved programs to conduct the testing and compliance investigations.

• Department must notify the State Board of Education and affected school facilities when detected lead levels meet standards the Department deems unsafe, including current state or federal action levels for lead in drinking water.

• School boards or school personnel must provide written notification to students' parents or guardians of unsafe lead findings within 10 calendar days of receiving notification from the Department.
