Beginning with the 2021 license year, resident veterans of the United States Armed Forces who have returned from service abroad or been mobilized by the President shall receive a fishing license free of charge, replacing the previous half-price fee structure.

Resident veterans meeting the same service requirements shall also receive a sportsmen's combination license free of charge beginning in 2021, instead of the previous reduced fee.

Veterans must provide verification of their service to the Department of Natural Resources at one of its five regional offices to qualify for the free licenses.

The Department of Natural Resources shall establish what constitutes suitable verification of military service for license issuance purposes.

The Act takes effect January 1, 2021.
