Amends the Illinois Police Training Act to require crisis intervention team training programs include addressing transportation of people with mental illnesses.

Expands the standard curriculum developed by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board to cover specialized policing responses to and transportation of people with mental illnesses.

Requires officers completing Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training to understand procedures for involuntary transportation of people with mental illnesses to an evaluation setting.

Mandates CIT training programs continue to train officers to identify signs and symptoms of mental illness, de-escalate situations, and connect individuals in crisis to treatment.

Requires the Board to create an introductory mental health awareness course covering mental health history, types of mental illness, treatments, medications, and de-escalation techniques, available in both traditional and electronic formats.
