IL SB3456

Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code Section 3-602 to permit examinations for involuntary inpatient admission to be conducted via telehealth.

Allows physicians, qualified examiners, psychiatrists, advanced practice psychiatric nurses, and clinical psychologists to perform the required examination using telehealth as defined in the Telehealth Act.

Maintains the requirement that the examination must occur within 72 hours prior to admission and that a certificate documenting clinical observations and diagnosis must accompany the petition.

Effective date specified as January 1, 2020 under Public Act 101-587.
