IL SB3554

Amends Section 3-806 of the Illinois Vehicle Code to create a reduced registration fee for vehicles assembled or manufactured in Illinois.

Motor vehicles of the first division (excluding autocycles, motorcycles, motor driven cycles, and pedalcycles) that are 5 model years old or younger pay an annual registration fee of $74 if assembled or manufactured in Illinois.

Standard registration fee for other first division motor vehicles remains $148 annually, effective beginning the 2021 registration year.

The $74 reduced fee applies only to vehicles assembled or manufactured within the state, creating an incentive for in-state vehicle production.
