IL SB3617

Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 to add a new provision making civil no contact orders permanent if a judgment of conviction for criminal sexual assault is entered.

Creates a sixth category of protective order duration stating that civil no contact orders shall remain in effect permanently upon conviction for criminal sexual assault, matching existing law for stalking no contact orders.

Maintains existing provisions for other protective order durations, including temporary orders during pre-trial release and orders lasting up to 2 years after expiration of supervision, probation, parole, or imprisonment.

Includes a statement of purpose clarifying that dismissing or suspending criminal prosecution in exchange for issuing a protective order undermines the purposes of protective order law.
