IL SB3681

Amends the Property Tax Code to allow optometrists to conduct disability examinations for homestead exemption purposes when the person qualifies due to a visual disability.

An optometrist may examine a person with a disability and determine their eligibility status using the same standards as the Social Security Administration, with examination costs borne by the claimant.

This provision applies to persons with disabilities who are not covered under Federal Social Security and who do not have an Illinois Person with a Disability Identification Card showing Class 2 disability status.

The bill takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
