IL SB3711

Prohibits storing or keeping firearms on residential premises if a minor is likely to gain unauthorized access or a resident is ineligible to possess firearms under federal, state, or local law.

Provides exemptions for secure storage using gun safety devices, secure locations a reasonable person would consider secure, or firearms carried on the person or within close proximity.

Makes violations a petty offense with a $500 fine per violation; escalates to Class 2 felony if a minor or ineligible resident obtains the firearm and causes injury or death.

Allows seizure and forfeiture of any firearm stored in violation of the law.

Repeals previous Section 24-9 child protection provisions and establishes this act as "Ethan's Law."
