IL SB3726

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to allow multifunction school activity buses (MSABs) to transport students in grades 9-12 who participate in career exploration programs with parental or guardian approval.

Adds a new exemption to the requirement that all K-12 students be transported in standard school buses for curriculum-related activities.

Requires MFSAB drivers to hold valid school bus driver permits and comply with vehicle safety requirements under Sections 6-106.11, 6-106.12, 12-707.01, 13-101, and 13-109 of the Illinois Vehicle Code.

Prohibits MSABs from being used for regular home-to-school or school-to-home bus routes, limiting their use to curriculum-related activities and career exploration programs.

Effective date: July 1, 2020.
