• Adds 3 years of mandatory imprisonment for defendants convicted of felonies related to their service as holders of elective office or appointed officials filling vacancies in such offices.

• Defines "elective office" to include: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Comptroller, State Treasurer, General Assembly members, Circuit/Appellate/Supreme Court judges, and members of local government or school district governing bodies.

• Prohibits probation, periodic imprisonment, or conditional discharge for such public official felonies; defendants must serve minimum sentence plus the additional 3 years.

• Makes this provision effective immediately upon passage.
