SB3815 Summary

• Amends the School Code Section 24A-5 to allow non-evaluative mentor observation and feedback as part of teacher evaluation plans for teachers not in contractual continued service who participate in new teacher induction and mentoring programs.

• Permits school districts to incorporate mentor observations into evaluation plans for non-tenured teachers enrolled in district-established induction and mentoring programs.

• Does not change existing evaluation requirements for teachers in contractual continued service, who must still be evaluated at least once every two school years.

• Maintains all other provisions of the teacher evaluation plan requirements, including performance ratings, remediation plans, and dismissal procedures.
