SB3890 Summary

• Replaces the requirement that the Department on Aging grant funds to study the feasibility of an affirmative action employment plan for seniors 60+ with a requirement to work directly with workforce development providers through the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to establish and implement such a plan.

• Changes the Department's requirement to study the feasibility of implementing the Senior Companion Program to instead conduct demonstration projects to identify additional ways to assist aging and minority senior citizens throughout the State.

• Removes the September 30 filing deadline for the annual joint report on Community Care Program services filed by the Department on Aging and Department of Human Services to the Governor and General Assembly.

• Requires the Department on Aging and other specified agencies to submit an annual report on programs and services for minority senior citizens within 12 months of the closing of the lapse period for the fiscal year included in the report, rather than by September 30 of each year.
