IL SB3991

Amends Illinois Criminal Code to add new aggravated battery offense for merchants performing duties, including relaying health or safety guidelines from employers or public health agencies.

Makes battery of a merchant aggravated battery when merchant is performing duties during a disaster declared by the Governor or state of emergency declared by a mayor due to public health emergency, and for 6 months after such declaration.

Defines "merchant" according to existing Section 16-0.1 of the Criminal Code.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
