IL SB3998

Amends the Broadband Advisory Council Act to add exploration of universal or public broadband feasibility as a Council duty.

Requires the Council to assess broadband availability for low-income households compared to other households and explore feasibility for universal or public broadband options.

Council must continue existing duties including expanding broadband availability, identifying adoption barriers, researching elimination strategies, and exploring increased use for education, workforce development, and aging in place.

Council shall report annually to the General Assembly by January 1st detailing actions taken and may make additional reports as required by the General Assembly or Governor.
