IL SB4017

Prohibits State Board of Elections members from contributing to political committees, serving as officers of political committees, or being designated candidates of candidate political committees.

Prohibits persons whose appointments require Senate confirmation from serving as officers of or being designated candidates for candidate political committees, with 30-day compliance period after confirmation or 60-day transition period to convert to a limited activity committee.

Defines "limited activity committee" as a political committee for Senate-confirmed appointees or registered lobbyists, restricting it to accepting only personal funds from the designated officer or candidate for maintenance expenses and limiting expenditures to maintenance, rent, charity donations, and contribution refunds.

Prohibits registered lobbyists from serving as officers of or being designated candidates for candidate political committees, with same 30-day compliance options as Senate-confirmed appointees.

Effective immediately upon becoming law, with 30-day compliance deadline for persons already in violation on the effective date.
