IL SJR0029

Directs the Auditor General to conduct a performance audit of the Department of State Police's administration of the Firearm Owners Identification Card (FOID) Act.

Requires the audit to examine information reported by circuit court and municipal court clerks, the database used for National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) reporting, and revocation reporting procedures.

Requires review of methods used to ensure persons with revoked FOID cards are no longer in possession of firearms or ammunition.

Mandates the Department of State Police and all state agencies cooperate fully with the Auditor General during the audit.

Requires the Auditor General to commence the audit as soon as possible and distribute a final report in accordance with the Illinois State Auditing Act.
